"The band Mokoomba was born on the border of Zimbabwe and Zambia, where the river Zambezi flows into the legendary Victoria Waterfall. The six members of the band grew up as the children of the Tonga people, and they formed their world of music building on the influences of the culture of their people. Led by the exceptional voice of Mathias Muzaza, (voice and percussion), Mokoomba conquered its environment with bursting energy and an Afro-fusion style that calls people to dance.
Mokoomba lives, beats and literally explodes on the stages.
In 2008 they won the South African Music Crossroads Festival, which puts on stage the best young bands from Zambia, Malawi, Tanzania, Zimbabwe and Mozambique. The success triggered several invitations to Europe. In 2009 and 2010 they gave concerts in Sweden, Norway, Spain, Holland, Belgium, Italy and Luxemburg. They then crowned their tour in the Colours of Ostrava Festival in the Czech Republic, where they played on the main stage before the Cranberries.
The further development of the band was promoted by Manou Gallo from Ivory Coast, who had became known as the bass guitarist of Zap Mama, and as a result of her work they present their new album in a new European tour."
